Just a couple quick pics.

Dinner today was at Tokyo Restaurant. I ordered the sashimi plate, plus some unagi and the spider roll. I am dense, I was thinking, "ooh, it has soft shell crab, I like crab!" without realizing that there really is a reason why it's called spider roll. It looks like a giant deep fried spider is climbing out of your food. I ate the sliced pieces and it tasted good, but the one at the end with the crab bits sticking out I couldn't bring myself to eat yet, though I brought them home.

sushi and sashimi

And another picture of the tulips. I forget what the darker ones are called, Queen of Night, I think. They're more of a dark purple than a true black. I wish they came out a bit darker,

Talking about food has made me hungry again, I'm off to go find some leftovers.

ETA: Also, I've come to realize that while I like dried squid and calamari, but I cannot abide it uncooked. It tastes gluey, aaagh.

All black flowers are either a deep shade of red or blue though the blue tone black tends to look more black like but tulips don't come in blues. The best you can get for tulips is a dark chocolate colour. Changing the soil chemistry can lighten or darken the flower pigments, also less bleaching light exposure. Feed the bulbs heavily before they go dormant and you may get deeper colour next year. They will also look blacker or lighter against different backgrounds.
