The Red Duchess

So I took dozens of photos today, four of which I managed to get kind of in focus ;)
Anyway, awhile back I was reading Caroline Weber's Queen of Fashion and thinking, "A redingcote would look really cool on a doll." Then naught but three days later,
nealeinvan posts pictures of a lovely green redingote that he commissioned from Vitta-Vera. Always a step ahead. . . ^_^ I also learned about
topsyturvies's etsy shop for doll hats from
nealeinvan. Too much dolly tempation. I emailed
tsuminaki to commission a redingcote in my favorite color and
topsyturvies for a Gainsborough hat to match. They both did such a wonderful job; the hat and coat are so much prettier in real life than I can capture here. Thank you, guys! And thanks, Neale for the dolly inspiration :D

I know it took
tsuminaki awhile to find the shade of garnet colored silk I asked for, but she didn't give up until finding the perfect fabric. My mouth literally fell open when I opened the package. There may have been squeeing. If you haven't commissioned clothing from Vitta-Vera, you should totally do so. They rock. And so does
topsyturvies. I can't wait to order another doll hat.

I tried using a new background this afternoon, but this was the only one from that shot that came out okay. It was too much work trying to balance doll, hat, background boards, and tripod all at the same time. So the others all have my bedroom curtains as the background in the other pics.
Thanks for looking! :)
