Okay, I had some pizza/nap/more pizza and I feel better now.

It looks (looked) horrible outside today. It was so windy that garbage and little debris were blowing over the roads and there is a brown fog hovering over all of Oklahoma from all the dust and smoke from wildfires. It made my eyes feel all dry and icky and also like I should put on some Woody Guthrie music.

Now, onto

I read 80 books last year, compared to last year where I read 81 so I fell short of my goal to read more than before.

Favorite books of the year
Piratica - Tanith Lee
Ruslan - Barbara Scrupski
Anansi Boys - Neil Gaiman
Assassination Vacation - Sarah Vowell
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
The Secret History - Donna Tartt

Most Overrated book of the year
The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova. I cannot believe this boring book is so popular. It was so boring, I read the new Harry Potter book in the middle of reading The Historian, and that turned out to be the only enjoyable part.

Most Disappointing Books
Metallic Love - Tanith Lee. Sequel doesn't live up to the original
Red Queen - Margaret Drabble. Only book I couldn't bring myself to finish.

Goals for the new year
More historical fiction, as usual
Wilkie Collins (any suggestions?)
Jane Austen's unfinished works and juvenilia
More nonfiction (like Alison Weir) and biographies

*oops! edited to add a Robin Hobb book I forgot about*
