On Monday, I went to the State Fair with Sarah, Nicole and Brodie.

The Deep Fried Bacon Cheddar Mash Potatoes On A Stick? Fan-fucking-tastic. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined all my favorite things together as one and served to me on a fucking stick. With Ranch dressing!!! Give yourself 1,000,000 bonus pts for that, State Fair vendor.
Unfortunately, I didn't get an actual picture of it because by the time I thought of getting my camera back out, I had already inhaled half of it. But trust me, the batter was a golden brown that would make you weep with happiness.
Anyway,
Because I am the elderly auntie, I walked around with Nicole as Sarah went on the rides with Brodie. Rides make me feel very uncomfortable and I enjoy watching them more than I do being actually on them. My favorite part was the one that slowly, slowly rotated the riders like they were being grilled on a human rotisserie. During that one, the ride operator actually stopped the ride after about a minute so he could come out with a crusty wrench and fiddle with a large screw on the bar that was holding people in. Despite the many, many WTF looks people were giving him, he didn't let anyone off either. And he was a sadistic bastard too, because just when the ride slowly eased towards the ground (and Sarah was able to open her eyes again), he flipped them back up into air. Even from several yards away, I could hear her sad wail of, "Nooooo! Do not want!" Ahh, good times. Though I don't think the people on the ride enjoyed it very much.
Anyhow, here's how my stuff did in the Fair. Please excuse the blurry pictures.
The Kiss got 5th place in Large Pictures of People.

The Bookshelf got 3rd place in Cross Stitch worked on Linen.

And the Halloween Fairy got 2nd place in Smaller pictures of People. Yay, my best result to date! ^_^

As for the blue ribbons, I think they were mostly other Mirabilia and Lavender & Lace designs. There's this one lady who gets three or four blue ribbons every year and she won again this time; someday I will beat her. Someday. *makes fist*
When I got home, I found an awesome biscornu sent to me from
own_two_hands for the
xstitchexchange Halloween swap.

I love it! :D I made a pinkeep for her. Her pictures of it came out much better than mine, so you can see it here.
I was so tired when I got back home, I pretty much flopped into bed and slept for 12 hours. I remember occasionally waking up, going, "Ow" and drifting back to sleep.
Things I bought from the fair: some fudge (pumpkin, amaretto), a bottle of an Oklahoma-made white wine, and a tiny llama. Ludivine approves.

I had a wonderful time; I'm glad I got to hang out with my friends :)

Date: 2007-09-19 03:01 pm (UTC)I needs must go see what won so I can boo the obviously playing-favorites judges. Work on the Taj for next year.. she can't enter every category..... can she?
And erm.. your bacon chedder taters on a stick.... are in the same category as your bacon ice cream for me. Sorry.. that's just how I roll.

That just makes me sad :( Oh well, plenty of Indian Tacos for you, if you prefer. And cinnamon rolls if that's how you roll ;)
