fiercebunnyWhenever I go to the movies with my friend Sarah, I ask her how many cigarettes a film it was. If it's a really engrossing, good movie, she's distracted into not thinking about smoking. If she's bored however, she'll wish she had a cigarette. The more cigarettes, the worse the movie. With Zodiac, for example, she craved an entire pack of cigarettes.
Well, I went to see There Will Be Blood tonight and for me, that was at least a five cigarette movie.* It was 2 1/2 hours of nothing happening but Daniel Day-Lewis's character drilling for oil and being an asshole. Interspersed with a few WTF moments ("I drink your milkshake"? Bowling alley? Twins? WTF?), so at times it was almost kind of amusing, but I still think it's way overrated. The little kid playing DDL's son was pretty good though.
*And I'm not even an actual smoker.
