OMG *flails*

A coworker asked me to trade shifts with her and I asked her to pick up today for me so I could have off specifically to see Batman.
Met
brennye at the Warren theater. First time to sit up in the balcony and despite it being twice as expensive as regular tickets, it was totally worth it. Big, comfy seats, and you can push a button to have a waiter come over and bring you cocktails and quesadillas and what not. YAY. (I had a White Wonka, which was appropriately disgustingly sweet and a little bitter and sour.) There is even a switch to heat up your big ass comfy chair when it gets too cold. I seriously didn't want to leave. If only I could afford balcony seats all the time.
Anyway, as to the movie. . .
This movie fucking ruled. I think... no, I definitely need to see it again (and again and again) before I can wrap my brain around it. It was just amazing. I loved Batman Begins anyway and this was just an incredible follow up, even better than its predecessor. I was on the edge of my big ass comfy chair the whole time. I don't even have fucking words, man.
*more disjointed fangirly flailing*
Heath Ledger's Joker is just a beautifully fearless performance. That's kind of a weird statement to make about an insanely creepy villain, but there it is. Watching his Joker is like staring into the heart of Chaos personified. Total anarchy.
The 'magic trick' with the pencil? That made the whole theater chortle with laughter in a very "Oh shit!" kind of way.
It breaks my heart that with the possible exception of Gilliam's film, we'll not get to see anything else like this from Ledger again. I can't imagine anyone picking up the Joker role (at least in the Nolan films) after this.
Gary Oldman, I looooooooovvvve yooooouuuuuuu. I've had a crush on Gary Oldman since I was like, 16. (Can you blame me? Because, damn.) And he totally brought it in this movie. That part where he's standing there with the axe and then starts to dismantle the bat signal? Oldman's whole body language just screams how much it's breaking his heart to do it even though no one there but the audience knows why. That just killed me. I welled up a little.
Oh and the scene where Lt. Gordon gets shot? I refused to believe it. "He can't be dead, he hasn't made Commissioner yet!" When they revealed the fake-out (thank jebus), the whole theater cheered.
I thought everyone in this was amazing. Even Christian Bale, who is a great actor, got overshadowed a little by Ledger, Oldman and Aaron Eckhart. That's a whole lot of awesome for 2 1/2 hours.
WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN NAO.
eta: I will try to make a grown-up girl post later :D
