A Doctor Who musical special? That would be awesome, even though I do think Davies could stand to be a little less influenced by Joss Whedon (especially after the Journey's End episode, which was pure Joss-inspired misery.)

Also, that clip of Tennant lip-synching to the Smiths' "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side" is too cute for words. I really need to track down a dvd copy of Blackpool.

Dear lord...I love a good musical as much as the next girl, but I must concur with you 100% about RTD needing to get over his Joss-envy. Especially considering how often he goes off on tangents in the commentary tracks about how he does NOT intend for his show to get into Buffy/Angel levels of angst....sorry buddy, you're already there!

On the up side, Murry Gold has already written some wonderful songs as incidental music for the series, so there's a reasonable good chance that the music will at least be passable. Whether the script, or indeed the actors will be up to the challenge....lol, at least we can depend on Captain Jack!

Seriously? Who is he trying to kid? I don't know if the show was always this way, but right now, it can go toe to toe with Buffy on the angst levels.

RTD has used pop songs pretty effectively before (I liked Last of the Time Lords especially), so I would flove a musical. In fact, RTD has written a lot of my favorite episodes; I do think he's a great writer; he's just terribly bad at endings. If he can write a musical without putting in some emotional trauma in the last ten minutes, that would be great.

I haven't, just a few clips of it. I've heard it's really good though.
