I feel a bit mopey because I have to go back to work tomorrow. My days off went by too fast :(

I did get stash in the mail today though, getting stuff in the mail always cheers me up. I don't have particular plans for any of these, but I wanted to see the colors irl. I'm looking for a fabric for the Japanese Garden mandala. Originally, I was going to stich it in black, but I changed my mind because that would involve having to swap out colors and it just seemed too much of a bother. So it's going to be on a lighter fabric.

Lakeside linen & Silkweaver fabric

From left to right, there are Lakeside Linens Vintage Pearled Barley and Bisque. Lakeside Linen seems to be popular with a lot of designers, I always see it being used in Just Cross Stitch Magazine. I bought these from 123Stitch.com. Then there are Silkweaver Cameo linen and Buttercream jobelan. All are 32ct. I like seeing user pics of fabric myself (it can be hard to get a good idea of the true color from the company websites), so I thought I'd share these.

I still can't decide. Vintage Barley and Cameo are way too brown for the design, so that leaves Bisque and Buttercream. Am leaning towards Bisque.

In other random news, I've been watching a lot of Supernatural lately. As in, I watched the first disc of Season 1 from Netflix and then skipped right over to Season 4. Normally, I hate to watch things out of order, but Supernatural is long, okay? Don't judge. (I'll catch up to the other episodes later.) Am enjoying it a lot so far though I like the big religious story arc better than the monster of the week episodes. It's a lot funnier than I expected too. Alright, I admit that I started watching it because the various animated gifs online (mostly from ONTD) amuse me. That is probably the silliest reason for getting into a show ever.

I meant to ask you this, but how do you stitch on linen? I know with Aida, you have the boxes already there. I know that this sounds stupid, but I was very curious!

It's not a stupid question at all. On linen and evenweave, the little box is made up of two horizontal and two vertical threads. So each / goes over two threads. Here is a pretty good close up of it (http://www.needlework-tips-and-techniques.com/counted-cross-stitch.html). It takes a little getting used to when switching over from Aida, but it's really easy to do.
