Jun. 5th, 2005 02:06 amFinally, a big storm!
I love tornado watches, which is a pretty unpopular opinion in Oklahoma, but spring really is my favorite time of year. Summer and winter are too gruelling here to be enjoyable, which leaves autumn and spring as the only bearable times to be in this state.
It's not really surprising that people pay big bucks to go on tornado hunting tours, because besides being naturally exciting, they're rather beautiful in a way. The sky grows dark and dramatic and just before the storm breaks, you can feel the quiet tension and smell the rain in the air. After the rain stopped today, the sun came out and everything was suffused with a strange golden light.
The one thing that would have truly made my day (that didn't happen) is if the tornado siren went off so my workplace would have had to make us get off the phones.
