why yes, I do ramble a lot

The Criterion Collection is releasing dvds of Bottle Rocket and Chunking Express this November. I love those two movies so much, I will definitely have to buy the Criterion versions even though I already own the plain, no-frills versions of both. Even though it is annoying to have to keep updating one's dvd collection, Criterion does a very good job with bonus features and such. They're such blatant film geeks about it that it seems less offensively greedy than when the studios do it.
I wish I could find some good YouTube videos of Chunking Express or I would post them. Especially the scenes of Tony Leung talking to household objects or Faye Wong breaking into his apartment. You should just rent the movie. For the most part, I really like Wong Kar Wai's films, even though a lot of the time they are mostly about nothing happening but beautiful people being heart-broken and miserable. But rest assured, they are really freaking beautiful people. I haven't seen My Blueberry Nights yet, but guessing from the cast list, I'd say he's probably continuing the trend on that. Chunking Express has the benefit of also being funny, so it wins as being my favorite of Wong Kar Wai's films. Plus, it has the best usage of "California Dreaming" ever put to film.

I am hungry for gjetost. I brought some back from San Diego several months ago and it was sooo good. I can't really afford to mail order cheese right now or run off to California, so I will just have to deal with being a sad panda. Wah, caramel cheesiness, I miss you D:

I am watching the HBO John Adams miniseries right now. The scene where he is ambassador to England and has to meet George III is so incredibly awkward. Tom Hollander's George isn't doing anything overtly crazy like say, licking the wallpaper, but he seems very odd nonetheless. Maybe it's that he doesn't blink enough. This makes me want to shout, "RUN, JOHN ADAMS, JUST RUN FOR IT." at the tv.

Seriously, somebody bring me some cheese. Or dessert.
