slightly overwhelmed
Jan. 18th, 2009 02:52 amCame home from work, ate roast duck and watched part 1 of Wuthering Heights on PBS. So now I'm feeling bloated and tired.
The new adaptation of Wuthering Heights is really good. And by really good, I mean I think the actor playing Heathcliff is hot. Rarely has being fucked in the head looked so pretty. Generally, the story is not one of my favorites (I prefer Jane Eyre and Jane Austen) as I think all the characters are assholes, but at least in the tv version I am enjoying the story for the twisted psychodrama that it is. And at least it is much more entertaining (and prettier) than Tess last week.
Also today, my friend V. gave me a cup of fermented rice! I have heard of rice wine, but this is actually sweet brown rice that is like, soaking in alchohol. I googled it and apparently it is called cơm rượu. There is a picture of it on the wiki page, although mine isn't floating in liquid. It's just wet, rather like a risotto, and incredibly boozy. It smells a bit like rubbing alchohol. I just tried a little of it and it tastes incredibly boozy, but sweet enough to be quite a tasty dessert. Imagine getting fucked up on rice. O.o Wonders never cease. I think maybe I'll ask V. for the recipe, but I imagine it will probably be some insanely difficult process to make alcoholic rice.
I didn't eat all of it yet because a)I'm still overwhelmed from overeating duck b)I want my Mom to try it and c)I want to do some stitching before I go to bed and you can't cross stitch when you're all fucked up from rice. Trufax.
I am almost through my Psych season 1 marathon and now starting to watch season 1 of Life. I don't know how I suddenly became obsessed with tv mysteries. Even though I like Damian Lewis, I hadn't watched Life before because the premise (cop falsely imprisoned for crime he didn't commit now set free, really loves fruit, fights crime!) seemed lame. However, the execution isn't at all bad and I did like the first couple of episodes. I still say it's too bad that Damian Lewis is otherwise occupied because in my opinion, he would have made a great Doctor. (He does quirky well, plus ginger!)
Off tofight crime! do crafty stuff.
