Jun. 8th, 2010 02:36 amDespite being late, scissor keeper has already reached its new home with Jayne in Florida. So now I can post a picture of it.

I used a freebie pattern, Indigo Rose's Wildflower Hearts, and followed Litla Skvís's finishing instructions. Since Jayne doesn't have a blog, I didn't know what her likes and color preferences were, but I found this sparkly blue linen at Cross Stitch Haven that seemed perfect for this project and then I just picked colors that I thought looked nice (and not too washed out because of the blue) on it. I'm very happy that Jayne likes it :)
In other news,
I was reading a recent biography of David Bowie, but somehow managed to get bored (WTF, it's Bowie)and am now reading Sarah Canary by Karen Joy Fowler, which I saw a recommendation for on io9. Am enjoying it so far, although not much is going on except for a cast of odd characters wandering around the Pacific Northwest.
1st day off was very unproductive. The house needs cleaning so I looked around, deciding what needs to get thrown out/recycled/taken to the used bookstore and then promptly took a nap instead.
Today was much better. I got my car's oil changed, had bacon and grits at the Waffle House, bought some runny, stinky cheese and baguettes, and bought some new records. And I trimmed some tiny ferret toenails.

From left to right: a Coldplay ep, The Ghost Who Walks by Karen Elson and (obviously) Abbey Road by the Beatles. I am really looking forward to hearing Abbey Road as it was meant to be played (loudly. Which can now be done since I've got my phono preamp in the mail from Amazon.)
And I am really enjoying Karen Elson's album. She has a very pretty voice and the songs are very folk-y/country in a Southern Gothic kind of way. It's pleasantly spooky.
Now to put in some hours on the Japanese Garden...
