Okay, made the baked rice pudding. Uh, not sure that came out right. The recipe didn't specify cooked or uncooked rice, so I made a guess and used cooked rice. And it took near 3 hours to cook and still didn't really have a pudding-like consistancy. On the plus side, I added vanilla and cinnamon to the recipe and the flavor part tasted fine; it's just the consistancy didn't seem right. Maybe I'll try it again with uncooked rice.

I've just noticed I haven't posted movies for either August or September. D'oh.

Dig!- A documentary about the friendship-turned-rivalry between The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. The other day Sarah was telling me about some documentary she'd seen on heroin addicts. You know what's worse than heroin addicts? Heroin addicts with Jesus complexes.

The Island - It's the kind of science fiction film that benefits from not thinking too hard about it. Entertaining, but silly. On the other hand, if I had the opportunity of cloning Ewan McGregor, I totally would.

Red Eye - If I had the opportunity of cloning Cillian Murphy, I totally would.

The Brothers Grimm- Terry Gilliam is one of my favorite directors, but this one was um, not good. It had interesting moments and great art design, but nothing really came together as a cohesive whole. (And somebody reading this is fuming, "What about the goddamned scene with the cat?!" Yeah, that part sucked. Don't watch this if you're a cat person.) I did like how Matt Damon seemed to have appropriated Eddie Izzard's accent. Everyone else's accents were pretty unintelligible.

Pitch Black - Brenda lent me this. It took me awhile to get into it, but it was a pretty interesting sci-fi. Vin Diesel was pretty cool. The only part that threw me was when someone kinda tried to guilt Riddick into being a good guy and he was all, "You don't know me!" That kind of made me laugh.

Alexander - The bad thing about Netflix is that I keep renting crap and then letting it sit around forever before I get around to watching it because I know it's crap. The good part about Netflix? Not having to face video store clerks while you rent crap. Man, this movie sucked. Colin Farrell had a mullet and a bad dye job that made him look like the Crocodile Hunter. Crikey!

Twilight Samurai- Those of you who know me may have heard me, at some point or another, bitching about a film strip that I had to watch innumerable times as a kid. It was this hideous sad puppy story, in which all manner of horribly unfortunate things happened to this little puppy. Well, this movie was like that filmstrip, only in Japanese and with samurai.

(And in a side note, I was visiting Nicole last month when she mentioned that Brodie was doing a book report on something called Hurry Home, Candy. I think I startled her (and everyone else in the room)when I screamed, "OH, my fucking Gawd! That book is Teh fucking Evil!" And I pointed at the book from across the room like Jacob Marley's ghost had suddenly appeared or something. Then I had to tell the whole story again about how we had to watch this in elementary school whenever it rained during recess and the P.E. teacher who resembled a female Willie Nelson yelled at me when I bitched about it. Nicole told me, "Well, Brodie really liked it and said he thought it would make a good movie, but when he wakes up tomorrow, I'm going to tell him that might not be a good idea, since it traumatized Auntie ZuZu for life." There is nothing worse than a sad puppy story. Gah!)

Just Like Heaven - Shut up! It was cute! Okay, it was fluff, but it was cute, amusing fluff. I really liked it.

The Life and Death of Peter Sellers - Peter Sellers was an asshole. Geoffrey Rush does a really good job of playing him though (and about a dozen other characters, all in Sellers-like style.) I did enjoy Stanley Tucci's entrance (as Stanley Kubrick), arriving in a creepy hotel elevator. Hah!

Ring Two - Meh. Not as scary as the first one.

Tomorrow is my friday! Yays!
