the onion domes of St. Petersburg

another pic from my tea cup collection. It's a Russian Lomonosov tea cup.
Progress on the Mirabilia piece is coming along slowly but surely. I started it around christmas time and I need to get it done and framed by August so I can submit it for competition in the state fair. That sounds like an incredibly old lady-like thing to do, but that's the plan.
Here's what I had done by March 17. At this point, still mostly a peachy blob.

Here's what I have done as of today. It's starting to resemble the end result a bit. The pinpoints of glare are coming from the metallic threads. There's also supposed to be beads as well, but those will be done last.

And this is what it's supposed to look like when it's done. Although bigger. I think I'm maybe halfway there. Or almost a quarter. Once again, I fail at fractions. Also, sometimes my hands feel like they're going to fall off.
I'm too tired to really bitch about work now, so I'll try to keep it short. One of my coworkers told me of a new rumor about how our department is going to get reduced and/or bumped off entirely. This, coupled with the fact that lots of the long-time employees are quitting and fleeing for the hills has me more worried than usual. Of course, such rumors have been flying around for over a year now and while things have . . . what's the word I'm looking for? Improved? Yeah, the exact opposite of that. Anyway, despite the decline, I still have a job, but (and that's one big but ^_-), I'm just going to have to be more careful about saving money for what appears to be the inevitable.

Citibank and USAA might be the only ones we do, but they require a US provider and it's written into their contract. Now.. Client Logic might lose the travel contract.. considering how things are fucking up.. yeah..
Bring movies tonight. :)
