My work trip to Dallas this weekend went pretty well. I went shopping with my coworkers on Sunday (we went to the Grapevine Mills Mall) and on Monday, I actually managed to stay awake all day, despite incredibly boring lectures on 401ks and such.
My coworkers teased me about being the slowest in the group, I was forever laboring to catch up in the airport. They didn't seem to remember that I was a good 10 feet ahead of them when we were in the mall as I was trying to find the Sanrio store. In fact, we had only seen about half the mall before they decided they were done, but then I insisted on dragging them through the other half. I felt kind of bad, since they were obviously tired, but there's no Sanrio store in Oklahoma City, so there was no way I was going to skip that. Actually, maybe it's better they didn't remember that.
For dinner, we decided to splurge ourselves and we went to the Mansion at Turtle Creek, a gourmet restaurant inside in a very luxe hotel. I had the Hudson valley foie gras with braised summer rhubarb, cape gooseberries, 20-year-old balsamic vinegar and for entree, the potato truffle tortellini, asparagus, summer truffle and parmesan emulsion. That is like, the fanciest dinner I've ever had. The foie gras appetizer cost more than twice my actual entree, but it was so delicious. The only other time I've had foie gras was a pate with crackers at La Baguettes, but this was the actual liver that was pan fried or something. Mmm. It was like butter, if butter was made out of meat.
Not much to be said about the actual class on Monday except it was boring and at one point, they made us do jazz hands :P

Date: 2007-07-20 07:45 am (UTC)The funny part was when one of my coworkers glanced over at the other diners (all couples) and said in a scandalized whisper, "I don't think these men are here with their wives!"
