These don't have bodies yet, so I just stuck them on paint bottles and took pictures.

From left to right, Chloe mold by Alice in Labyrinth (my new favorite company) and Ryu by Migidoll.

Crap, I am out of Mr. Super Clear so I can't finish sealing the Chloe head. I know I could get a can of Testor's at the craft store, but I don't like it as much, too gloopy last time I used it. I'm still not that sure I like how I did her faceup. Granted, I was going for a lobotomized look...

I still need to buy a boy body for this one. (Plus a wig and some shoes for him.) And no there are no lower eyelashes because I cannot draw them for the life of me. There are a lot of Ryus that I have seen online that I liked, but he is kind of goofy looking, isn't he? It must be the big nose.

Crap, now I have to run off to work.

A common drawing trick for lower lashes in sketching is to just have 3 tapered increasing in size quill sweeps at the far corner, not sure how else to describe them.

I see what you're saying, it just looks weird when I do it. Less like lashes and more like sticks.

Hmm sounds like you are having problems with the slight arc or the dab pull motion that creates the taper.
I would suggest larger scale practice on paper with a fat brush then work down to fine. The should look like tugged out commas.

Yes! What you said. That's exactly the problem.

Thank you for the advice:D I'll try practicing with a different brush. I've been trying to do them with a really fine brush before.

It is a dab, pull away and lift away at the same time with brushes where as with pencils it's more of press then flicking motion. Cheap newsprint and be all grade school messy again.

Hee, at first when I read your cut text I thought they'd have the wigs too, like when you pull a head off a Barbie, and when stuck on the paint bottles it would look like a warning to other dolls not to tread here.

Lol! Ideally, I would like to keep my collection of spare heads in glass cases like the witch in Return to Oz. That might be too creepy though.

Ryu kind of reminds me of Nino from Amelie. Except creepier, because of the whole disembodied doll head thing.

I never noticed that before, but you're right, he does look like Nino. I'm glad there was no disembodiedness in Amelie though. Imagine if that had snuck up on Amelie in the tunnel ride.
