Today I took a nap and woke up to an Oprah rerun about some book called Eat, Pray, Love. I know it's been around for awhile, but I've pretty much ignored the hoopla around it. Apparently it is some self-help book where the author recovers from a painful divorce and finds herself by going on sabbatical in Italy, India and Bali. Oprah is promoting this inspirational concept to all women who are finding their everyday lives lacking. There are many video segments of annoying, well-to-do middle-aged women trying to out-pretentious each other as the author tries her best to look benevolent. Everything about this irritates the living hell out of me. F'r fuck's sake, if I could afford to travel all over the world and eat pasta for as long as I wanted to, I wouldn't be fucking depressed in the first place. How is the average person supposed to be able to discover life fulfillment this way? Please go die in a fire.
Okay, I was a little cranky when I woke up from my nap.
