gonna kill me some natzies
Sep. 2nd, 2009 11:04 pmI just came back from hanging out with Sarah today. We went out to eat at an Irish pub. I've never been to a pub before; I'm not generally fond of going to bars, but this one had its menu online and it sounded like fun. I had bangers and mash and fried okra. (I don't think fried okra is very Irish, but hey, this is Oklahoma. And I like fried okra.)

As you can see, bangers and mash are sausage and mashed potatoes. I'll admit I ordered it because the name amused me. But! I do like sausage and I do like mashed potatoes and gravy. However, I admit now that eating both at the same time with a side of fried okra is really, really kind of heavy. And probably not all that healthy.
Oh and for the appetizer, we ordered sausage and two kinds of cheese battered and fried, on a stick. Really, it sounded like a good idea at the time. We never learn.
Afterwards, we went to see Inglorious Basterds at the Warren. Yay! *fangirls Tarantino* I love his movies and really enjoyed this one as well. Yes, it's long, but I think it actually could have been even longer and I still would have enjoyed it. It has such a large ensemble that I thought there should have been even more backstory on all the characters.
I really liked Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine. I think Pitt is at his best when he plays more oddball type characters, like this one or in Burn After Reading. (The last movie of his that I saw was when I rented Benjamin Button and a more boring, tedious movie I could not imagine. ) Also, his Tennessee accent cracked me up, especially when he was speaking Italian. His lines got most of the laughs in our theater.
Anyway, this was a pretty gratuitous, violent movie (obvious post is obvious) and there were several parts that made me really squirm.
Oh! And of the natzies had an additional creepiness factor of looking exactly like Christopher Walken. Really.
Anyway, I had an enjoyable time. It was fun hanging out with Sarah :D Maybe I'll go eat a salad now or something.
