I've at last got that huge-ass cross stitch project finished.

This is what it looks like now...

A closeup of the faces. The guy has a strange receding hairline, no? I got rid of the mullet though (just added extra sky and clouds in its place)

a closeup of the beading on the skirt

thank jebus it's done with! I can't quite believe that I had the patience to do all of that. Now the scary part of taking it to the framers...

*cheers again just because*

Date: 2006-11-05 02:34 pm (UTC)I think once I've burned out my obsessive freak for crochet I'm finally going to buy a cross stitch pattern. I love satin stitch, but freehand embroidery can be excruciatingly aggravating...hence the nearly two months that have passed since I worked on my 'current' project.

Date: 2006-11-06 06:29 am (UTC)I wish I enjoyed crochet or knitting. A friend tried to teach me, but I could never get the hang of it. I'd like to learn ribbon embroidery, but that, along with freehand, looks really difficult.

Date: 2006-11-06 09:48 am (UTC)I bought a book on ribbon embroidery, though I haven't attempted it yet. I don't know that it looks difficult so much as time consuming. You have to sew down every stitch you make with the ribbon with regular thread to make sure it stays where it's supposed to be...headache in the making! I'm going to try to include some in the Marie Antoinette piece I really should finish some time soon, so I'll probably post on the results once I get to that part.
